In today’s world, most top-notch organisational leaders know how to harass fresh talent with work pressure. For experienced ones, harassment comes through the bait of fear of losing their precious jobs.

So, as an experienced employee in one of the MNCs that I wouldn’t be naming, I would like to show you the environment inside most of the leading Indian MNCs. Truth be told, the glamour of the MNC world is all a myth.

Every employee inside is facing a new struggle that pushes his or her career’s learning growth curve forward in one way or another—that has no doubt.

Why Is Working In MNCs So Attractive For Outsiders Who Are Fed Up Of Their Private Jobs?

Working environment

MNCs have culture and flexibility that liberates every employee’s mind and thinking process. Private companies hardly have this factor, which hinders the learning curve’s growth in one’s career.

Most MNCs do not have any restrictions on the style of the clothes you wear; many celebrate every cultural event, irrespective of an individual’s religious background. So, there is harmony in every celebration, achievement, and communication amongst all.

Safety

Safety in MNCs is very crucial as here; employees have to work for 24x7. Firstly, they provide cabs for on-time pick and drop, even in the odd hours. They also assign security guards to ensure the safety of every employee, especially women.

Healthy living

Employees spend at least 8-12 hours in an MNCs. The entire organisation is their second home, if not first. It is every MNCs responsibility to boost a better living and working condition while the employees invest most of their day there.

This surety of healthy living comes from better food quality at the canteen or a mess, neat but also spacious working conditions, and hygienic workable washrooms.

Facilities regarding doctors in the office

When anyone faces health issues, they can visit the doctor who is provided by the company on any of the floors in the same building. It will also bear no extra cost by the employee, as it comes under the utmost responsibility of the MNCs to take care of its manpower at any cost.

Maintenance

They also ensure that office lifts are working without unwanted stoppages. To maintain this efficiency, they organise Fire Drills once in a while. The employees also learn how to save themselves in case of emergencies.

This is just a way to keep everyone aware of the multiple situations that can occur in any organisation, let alone the one they are currently working in.

Why Would Anyone Ever Hate Working In An MNC?

Job security issues

If people do not complete their given targets, then the company can terminate them. Or else, then their jobs are always at risk when there are too many arguments and negative feedback about one’s job performance from the team leader.

In this case, either the promotion is put on hold, or the member is terrorised so much with the pressure to improve, that he would want to leave the job as soon as possible.

During this stage, the affected person’s mind is emotional and does not anymore think about a career’s learning curve’s growth.

Issues with team members

Because of the increase in competition, everyone, even in the same team, is in a hurry to prove his or her point right.

This creates a chasm between two or more team members easily. Then it is tougher for a team leader to put the team together to achieve a common goal for the week, month, or even the quarter.

At times, the clashes in the team regarding the work pressurises a single person to the extent that he or she ends up creating more issues with his or her team leaders. This is then just the starting of the mess, if not taken care of before going out of hands.

Issues related to salary increment

In a team, not all members serve the organisation at an equivalent level. So, accordingly, the salary should be paid to the employees, which is the main issue among the team members.

Leave related matters

In MNCs, taking leaves is a major drawback, especially if we talk about gazetted holidays. These days, they call at least half of the staff. But another half of the team members are given levy to stay at home.

The disparity is never really cleared out, leaving the members who are working during holidays at their wit’s end. No one has clear information on the need for an employee to be present in the office during a public holiday, or how other members of the same team are permitted to sit at home.

Thumbs Down, Dislike, Bad, Feedback, Negative, Opinion

This gives rise to another issue related to holidays. People often keep asking and discussing to get paid leave on most of the public holidays, especially during the cultural festivals.

Moreover, whenever a member applies for leaves during this period, the chances of getting the same application’s rejection are much more than its acceptance. When asked the team leaders, or super seniors, they do not have a clear answer for juniors, which is quite frustrating at times.

Ongoing corporate politics

People hold grudges against each other, but as we know, we all have to work together in a team. So, they do not show the conflict or complaint in front of each other.

Gossip, Girls, Group, Portrait, SchoolHere comes the reality that they often gossip and spread rumours against everyone who is not in their “good books”. This game of politics is a loophole, and if one gets influenced by it once, the loop does not end.

Firstly, it starts with social distancing between the team members, then the gossip initiates, and then the unequaled work pressure is also felt by the victimised candidate. The hate or the enmity spreads like a venom inside the team, especially when it is initiated by a super senior.

Social Distancing, Toilet Paper, Role, Corona, VirusMoreover, then comes the episodes of treating the newbie team members badly, or ignoring them, or asking them for silly favours. This eventually shatters the morale of the employee who has recently joined the organisation.

If that is not enough, people who are envious of anyone’s job performance might also end up complaining about unnecessary things to the leader. This entire episode creates a lot of tension and cold wars, which continue for the long term, until and unless one of the candidates moves to another team, floor, or simply another process.

Otherwise, either of the two parties simply waits for the promotion to take the matters into one’s hand.

Disclaimer:

I am not saying this happens to every organisation. Not every organisation is the same; I get that point. That is why this blog holds true based on honest personal opinion. As I am working in an MNC, I have seen, heard, and experienced some of the troubles and episodes of harassment mentioned earlier.

To date, it is still unclear why our career’s learning curve’s growth is so hard to manage and elevate to the higher tangent in corporations.

I strongly recommend everyone who faces harassment by any team member, leader, or any super senior to document it, have it on paper, or collect any piece of evidence against the wrongdoings that are happening to you or someone you know.

If you speak up at least once, it gives voice to other sufferers. If you keep ignoring, nothing will change, and nothing will improve.
